Murthy was most recently Managing Director and Principal Consultant at Smart Katalyst, a growth advisor to companies in consumer goods, media, IT, manufacturing, consulting and infrastructure, among others. He has helped a wide range of organizations to start up, scale, and turn their prospects around, and has advised Small and Medium Enterprise promoters on succession planning and operational best practices. For the last 20 years, he has helped organizations set the right strategic direction and motivate their people towards operational excellence and peak performance. Murthy has created and conducted customized leadership development courses and prepares engineering and management students for life in the corporate workplace. He is an active member of Rotary International, which has informed his perspectives on people, leadership motivation and organizational development.

Murthy is an alumnus of Andhra University.
