Overview

Professor R V Rao has had a remarkable career spanning over three decades in the field of banking, business development, rural upliftment through better financial practices, and behavioral sciences.

He holds an M.Sc in Agriculture & Technology (G. B. Pant University, UP), an MBA in Banking & Finance, a PGD in Financial Advising and CAIIB from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, Mumbai. In addition to that, he is a Certified Professional in Life Insurance and General Insurance, holds a AMFI Certification for Mutual Fund Advisors and Internal Quality Audit Certificate for ISO 9001: 2008.

Professor R V Rao’s prowess in banking, rural business and micro-financing is unchallenged owing to the vast exposure he gained at State Bank of India, serving in the capacities of Rural Development Officer, Branch Manager, Branch Head (Muscat), and finally as AGM (Faculty) at State Bank Institute of Rural Development and State Bank Staff College, Hyderabad.

His decade-long experience in training executives in HR, Leadership Development, and Behavioral Science stems not only from a solid understanding of nuanced academic models and theories, but also from a keenly developed personal vision that champions rational thinking, easy, effective, and timely approaches to complex problem-solving. With a firm focus on business goals, his training style seeks to build awareness of ethical behavioural practices through simple frameworks that explain difficult concepts.

An industry veteran with multi-dimensional interests, he has made distinguished contributions to development-oriented research projects like ‘Financing high-tech Olericulture and Floriculture in Jharkhand state’, ‘Prospects of Financing Vermi-composting units in Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh’, and ‘Marketing of Government Business’. At the same time, his published works in illustrious journals include ‘Climate Smart Banking’ in ‘The Indian Banker’ and ‘Enhancing Farm Productivity through Technology Transfer: Banks’ Role Beyond Credit’ in Bancon 2012 Compendium of Conference Papers.

As a senior mentor with specialised niches in Agri Business, NRI Banking and Trade Finance, Professor Rao coaches value creation on the basis of identifying individual potential amidst divergent social dynamics of corporate governance. His penchant for behaviour mapping paired with strategic direction of employee management is unrivalled.

As a personal passion project, he works as a resource for ‘National Kisan Call Centre’, answering farmer calls to help them assisting  with questions about Kisan Credit Cards, Farm Loans from banks. He’s also an avid progressive farming enthusiast and has visited farms in India, USA, Europe and the Middle East.
